Dear Members of Frodsham Golf Club, we are now past the shortest day of the year and will no doubt be looking forward to 2017 when we can bring into play the new golf jumper, socks, golf balls or perhaps even a new set of golf clubs which Christmas Day may bring to you.

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas with good health and prosperity for the New Year.

With very best wishes, Hazel Kelsall President

The President’s Prize 2016

Summer arrived in all its glory for the President’s Prize and the views of the course from the terrace were fantastic.

The sun also brought out summer shorts and bare legs, and those views were also fantastic!

It was a pleasure to meet and greet players on the first tee and to put a face to some of the new names. The Dans and Deans, James’ and Martins to name a few and sadly too many to remember so, my apologies if I have forgotten your name the next time we meet.

My commiserations to those players who had to withdraw from the Competition on the day through injury and ill health. I hope things improve for you all soon.

There were one or two shaky starts on the first tee but by and large most players got off to a good start and the overall results on the day were favourable.

Congratulations to the winner, Gary Worthington and I look forward to presenting Gary with the Presidents Cup at the Gala Presentation evening on the 15th October 2016, along with all other Major winners of the year.

My thanks to my husband Ian for presenting me with a red rose at the start of his game which unfortunately didn’t survive the day.

With best wishes for the remaining golf season, Hazel Kelsall, President.

Captains' Drive In 2016

The Captains' Drive In took place on Saturday 16th January with 56 participants who competed in two teams representing either the Captains team or the Past Captains team. The format was Pairs Match Play over 11 holes with a "shotgun start". It was a very close competition and was drawn 7 points each so the Captains retained the Captains' Putter. Afterwards a 2 course carvery was served in the club house joined by family and friends creating a great atmosphere.

Our charity this year is Alzheimers Research UK, Alison a volunteer from the charity gave a very moving talk about the charity and personal experiences. £135 was raised by Captains Drive and 9th Green. Thank you for all your generosity and to Captain Pauls' wife Kim and her friend Gaynor for the collage and dressing the room in the Charitys colours Purple and Orange, the room looked amazing, also Captain Chris' partner Peter for taking photos which will be in the Gallery soon.

Thanks must go to Graham and Adam for organising the day, Dean, the bar staff and catering staff for looking after us so well. Thanks to you the members for all your kind words, cards and support.

We would also like to wish our Vice Captains' Gill and Brian all the best for 2016.
